It has been exactly one year since I have been writing blogs for this website.  During that time, I have certainly learned a few things about business, life, and myself.  One year ago, my tech support guy strongly encouraged me to write a weekly blog to keep this site active.  My first concern was if I would run out of ideas.  It is amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it.  This is blog number 53, and I have no signs of slowing down.

Writing is quite enjoyable.  The hardest part is getting started, but once you get going, the words flow like a river.  Creativity can come anywhere and at any time.  I was writing one of my blogs at 2am in a motel room.  The feeling was right; the ideas were bouncing in my head, and there was no time like the present.  I also like the freedom.  I can write whatever is on my mind on any topic.  This includes sports, politics, business and of course technical analysis and how it impacts my goal of generating two percent returns per week.

It is also amazing for your own personal growth when you try something new and it takes you somewhere you never imagined.  I have discovered that writing is something I will be doing when I retire.  I am already freelance writing for several gambling magazines about articles on Blackjack.

One thing about this blog is that it requires self-discipline.  You must be a self-starter and meet a self-imposed deadline.  It is a sense of accomplishment when you can do this every week. It is not work.  It is only work when you would rather be doing something else and I never get that feeling.

I always like learning new things.  If you are not learning, you are not growing.  I have always been interested in technical analysis.  I like learning new things about technical analysis, what works and what doesn’t and use it to generate an income.  This past month I discovered the stochastic oscillator and the on-balance volume charts and how it can strengthen my program.   It has made such an impression on me that I am back testing the S&P 500 companies for the past year using all of the matrices to confirm my 2% weekly goal is attainable. It will take me several weeks to complete that testing and I look forward to reporting those results in a future blog.  I love doing this and If you do what you love and can make a living at it, you are truly blessed.  I am not there yet, but I like where I am going.

I have also learned some new computer skills.  I am not that computer literate, but my tech guy has shown me how to update my website with this weekly blog, and I have been doing that successfully.  Apparently, you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Writing these blogs has reinforced the notion of believing in yourself.  If you have a passion for something and it is something you really want to pursue, the only one holding you back is yourself.  You only have one life. When I am 85 in my rocking chair and reflecting on my life, I do not want to say, what if. Make sure you have no regrets in your life.  You may fail, you may succeed, but either way you will have peace of mind knowing you gave it your all and you lived life on your terms.  I hope you can find your passion in life.  Here’s to the next year of writing blogs.
